Do Antidepressants Cause Acute Pancreatitis?

I just happened to stumble onto the above information concerning antidepressants and so I thought I'd pass it along.
Hello. I'm recently joined the hall of pain called pancreatitis, only had about 4 or 5 acute episodes...took a while untill i was actually diagnosed by a good doctor that had more than one tired neuron. Bad part is i am way younger than the usual 35> age that's usually common for this disease. Your site is great, i'm trying to follow ur advices but there is something i would like your oppinion on since u know a whole lot more about this cursed disease than i do. It's a new drug called Glybera. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi W - I don't know much about Glybera - in fact i had to look it up lol. So you most likely know as much or more than I do about it. Since it is a new gene therapy that is due to roll out commercially some time during the second half of 2013 I couldn't find a whole lot of information. I would imagine that unless you have the defective gene that causes LPLD it would be of little use to you. It did interest me though and so I did a short blog post about Glybera if you are interested.
ReplyDeletethe swedish study showed that there is no increased risk of pancreatitis associated with using antidepressants. The odds ratio of 1 means its the same as general population.
ReplyDeleteHi Katie - feel free to keep taking your antidepressants. I am simply passing along information to those who wish to heal.
